Buddha sent Ananda into Kusinaga town to tell the people that tonight, in the last watch of the night, The Buddha will pass away into Nirvana and that they should come and see Buddha before he passed. Soon all the people of Kusinago came to the Apple Grove and one by one they bowed down before The Buddha and bade him farewell.
"Behold, O monks, this is my last advice to you. All component things in the world are changeable. They are not lasting. Work hard to gain your own salvation." These were the last words of the Buddha.
He then attained the First Ecstasy Jhana. After this he attained in order the second and third Ecstasies, and then the fourth. Then he attained the Realm of Infinity of Space, “Akasanancayatana”, then The realm of Consciousness “ Vinnanancayatana." Proceeded by the Realm of Nothingness “Akincannayatana." Next came the realm of perception or non-Perception N'eva Sanna N' Asannayatana." And finally The Cessation of Perceptions and Sensations - Sannavedayita-Nirodha. And so as a man He was born. As an ordinary man He lived. As a Buddha He passed away.
